Earlier this month we posted a color palette that featured our Kitchen Plus custom natural cherry craftsman style cabinetry, Cambria quartz countertops, and United Tile flooring and backsplash. Here are the before and after photos of this simple yet elegant kitchen transformation.
Before, the kitchen was lacking a few key storage areas and there were some issues with functionality. The existing cabinetry made the space feel a little dark.
Georgia worked with the clients on the new layout and color palette to determine what would work best with their unique needs. The new cabinets in natural cherry warm the space without enclosing it. Additional under cabinet lighting really helps the space feel more open and highlights the subtle texture in the backsplash tile.
Before, a free standing stainless steel unit was pushed up against one wall to extend the work area and store gadgets.
With the new plan, the additional built-in storage provided a place to put a separate cooktop that faces the dining area, perfect for cooking and entertaining guests. The clean lines of the Cambria Quartz Fairbroune counter top brightens the space while giving the homeowners an easy to maintain work area.
The new area also added much needed extra storage with a custom pull out that neatly tucks away trash and recycling while keeping it within arms reach.
Before, the homeowners were cramped into one corner of the kitchen when cooking together.
The refrigerator was shifted away from the wall a few feet to the right in the re-design to allow the refrigerator door to swing open all the way which had been restricted in the previous layout. The new stainless steel microwave was relocated to the left side of the fridge and stacked on top of a coordinating, easy to access wall oven. By removing the range and separating the cooktop and the oven, there are now clearly defined areas for separate tasks – perfect when there are multiple cooks in the kitchen.
The dishwasher was relocated to the other side of the sink to improve functionality for right handed users and to prevent the dishwasher door from opening into the main walkway. With the addition of a large stainless steel sink, cleanup is now a breeze in this cheery, contemporary kitchen. A classic subway tile backsplash with a modern texture and caramel color polishes the look.
